OOo will not open or save file to mounted network drive

Bug Description

With Unbuntu 7.10 and OpenOffice (from Synaptic), OOo will not open or save from/to a shared network drive (NAS Hp Media Vault). Double clicking on the file located on the network drive from a Nautilus screen will not launch OOo.

Attempting the same actions with a pdf file works. (Open, Save, Launch with Evince)

I booted OpenSuse 10.3 (gnome) from a Live CD, started Samba services and mounted the network drive. OOo works normally, i.e. Open, Launch (did not attempt a Save).

This appears to be a problem with the Ubuntu version of OOo.

Ubuntu: 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon
Gnome: 2.20.1
OpenOffice: openoffice.org 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3 OpenOffice.org Office suite
PC: P3 1GHz 512Mb RAM, 20GB HDD, Nvidia Quadro2 32 MB, Viewsonic VA520

I re-installed Ubuntu 7.10 (clean install with HDD format). Problem does not exist anymore. Open and Save to network drive now works.

Sorry for this unnecessary bug report.

Per comment added below, Re-installation of Ubuntu cleared the problem. Unfortunately I cannot explain why the problem existed with the previous install.
