the first page of PDF files temporarily forgotten

Bug Description

Display start of the first page of many PDF documents takes very long time.

However, when I just minimize and maximize the evince window, the first page
is already rendered and immediately displayed. Thus I suppose it is due to some
mistaken timing and not because of rendering. In fact, xpdf has no problems with
those files.

I run standard Ubuntu 7.10 desktop on a two core laptop.

Thank you for your bug. That's normal that rendering is slower when starting the application, it needs to build the image not only display it on screen. Could you attach an example? How slow is your computer and how long does it take to open an example?

Hm, it looks I can not reproduce it by now. It annoyed me for some time (throughout the autumn),
and now I finally put into launchpad a bunch of reports (including this one). However in this case,
I did not make sure it is still valid - it was so just for some files (may be situations). I apologize for that.
If I find it occur again (or just find such file, I do not remember that ones), I'll post the example.

Just for clarification of that cases: If I had clicked on a respective window item in the window list in the
gnome panel (to minimize it), and reclicked it again (to unminimize it), it was already done - contrary
to situations when I just had waited for the first page. It then took some tens (?20) seconds.

My computer is not such a lazy one: core2duo, 2x1.66GHz. And it was not a problem for xpdf.
It had looked like an intentional sleeping before displaying the document.

closing since it works correctly now, you can reopen if you get the issue again and have an example to attach to the bug
