Bug Description

After the last update of kdebase, I have the following problem: Although I have enabled "Load plugins on demand" feature of Konqueror, flash is no blocked as it should. There isn't the "start plugin" button as usual and flash is loaded normally... I 've tried to solve the problem by deleting konquerorrc, but no use. I 've also created a new user but the problem was there. Any ideas? Thanx in advance...

PS. Also, although that the last update is supposed to solve the problem with the latest flash plugin (9.0.115) and Xembed, in my case there is still problem with Konqueror and flash. But really I don't care very much about it. Just mentioning...

Flash itself seems to be working again, in Gutsy at least.

If "Load Plugins On Demand Only" is enabled, flash videos show up as gray boxes without the start plugin button.

Unchecking "Load Plugins On Demand Only" makes Flash videos work fine.

Jared as I said before, flash objects load normaly, as if I had disabled the "Load Plugins On Demand Only" feature of Konqi. The thing is that I have enabled it... It seems that there is a problem with the latest patches concerning Flash for kde3.5.8, because the problem exists also in KDEmod of ArchLinux. They have these patches there too. On the other hand the original KDE of Arch doesn't have them, so everything is fine there... Anyway, according to the schedule of the KDE team, tomorrow we are going to have KDE 3.5.9, so hopefully everything will be fine again... Cheers ;)

Konqueror ignores the "load plugins on-demand" setting for Flash both on Feisty and Hardy -- the Flash plugin runs automatically regardless of the value of the setting.

The fix has been released in Jaunty, but I am nominating the fix for Hardy and Intrepid.

Hello megahead13,

On my side, I tried the tricky way... and had no more luck:
 - I followed instructions on on this page, to switch to KDE 3.5.10: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-3.5.10
 - ...and gave an (unsuccesfull try) :(

Although I do have Konqui 3.5.10, the "Flash" bug is still present...

If it were me, I would have classified this bug as critical:
 - In contemporary web, it is unthinkable to browse with Flash enabled. This is a killer point for the machine (100% CPU, flash crashs, over-flashy ads, ...)
 - But having no flash at all is not great, as a few sites are not browsable without it...

I totally second you on this, and hope for a resolution someday...
