No "Memory test" boot menu entry

Dimitri, this is fallout from the isolinux->grub migration. Was this an understood/agreed change?

I don't recall any discussion with the desktop team.

We do not have SB signed memtest+ binary.

On UEFI, laptop manufacturers provide HW check, including memtest / cpu / gpu / bus tests, that are integrated into hardware troubleshooting. I.e. Dell SupportAssist, which kicks in if all other boot options fail, or when manually initiated.

My preference is for users to use their manufacturer provided memtest / hw troubleshooting.

We could still provide the old memtest on bios boot, but we currently don't.

I think providing this as a BIOS-only boot option is reasonable, much as we
currently provide EFI-only boot options.

I understand the "correct" way to handle this is by vendorizing the memtest86+ binary into cd-boot-images-amd64, which will probably not get done for groovy.

We've deployed a fix from Steve to include this for BIOS boots only. So partially fixed.

This is implemented for BIOS which puts us at feature parity with the previous releases. There is no memtest86+ that works under UEFI today. So this is done for the Ubuntu CD images project unless and until there is a UEFI-compatible memtest we choose to include.

memtest86+ v6 add efi support, is in developement and for now in debian experimental (a git snapshot build)
