Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have MySQL 5 (vanilla gutsy packages with apt-get) running at localhost.

Java version:

java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

Setting up connection to db with OOo DB wizard works fine, but after clicking

1) Tables > Use wizard to Create Table
2) Click 'personal' in category section of next screen.
3) Click 'Sample tables' dropdown. Click down arrow to scroll down couple times.
4) PUUF! OOo DB crashes with error (terminal output after crash):

X-Error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
        Major opcode: 53 (X_CreatePixmap)
        Resource ID: 0x54004b5
        Serial No: 24021 (24021)

Which version of Ubuntu and openoffice are you running? If running openoffice 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5 please upgrade to the version in gutsy-updates which is 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3 and let me know if this fixes your problem.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

I made some more testing and digging around, apparently it has something to do with GTK theme as it works if I change to default Human theme.

I think I saw a bugreport about GTK theme problems somewhere so this is may be a duplicate report.

Yes indeed - this happens only with GTK themes with scrollbar buttons on top, for example always reproducable with Clearplastic:

Perhaps this is somehow related to bug 131526

Do you still have this problem on Ubuntu hardy (8.04) with OpenOffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3?

Chris,

I am having the same problem in Hardy. When I select a table that I created the whole program shuts down. It even crashes any other open office program I have open. Its strange I can create queries, copy tables and enter data into the tables, but there is just a few tables when selected makes the whole program crash. I can even delete the table that causes the crash because as soon as I select it, the program closes. I am using open office 2.4, on a lenovo R61, that originally came with the suse pre-load. Can you point me in the right direction so I can resolve this issue. Thanks
