nautilus: symbol lookup error

Bug Description

When trying to start Nautilus from Terminal i get the following error:
"nautilus: symbol lookup error: nautilus: undefined symbol: g_desktop_app_info_set_desktop_env" What i read so far its indicating that it doesnt know wich type of desktop enviroment to use
Where do I set this parameter Cant filebrowse or use places Using 8.04 with all the latest updates

Thank you for your bug. Could you run ldd $(which nautilus) and copy that to the bug? Is your system uptodate too?

The ldd log show that you have custom library in the local directory taking over the distribution, not an ubuntu issue, you should not open bugs against ubuntu if you do such change to your installation

Hi Sebastian !! Hmmm now i understand what you mean ... deleted the usr/local/lib and re-installed nautilus
And a complete different story ... now it opens 10 times at start and crashes wich have been reported elsewhere
Running nautilus in terminal will give:
micke@micke-desktop:~$ nautilus
seahorse nautilus module initialized

** (nautilus:6708): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Not supported
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
micke@micke-desktop:~$
witch windows oening and crashing 10 times

Not sure that's an ubuntu bug, could you use apport to send the crash bug? It's likely that you broken your installation when you didn't use the packaging system to install things
