Bug Description

After hardy update about 3 weeks ago, I have most letters cropped from the top by +- 1 pixel. Gtk2, qt3, firefox, openoffice are all concerned (athena is OK). Since image speaks thousand words: http://beta.arcig.cz/~eudoxos/temp/pisma/ has screenshots of a few programs that exhibit that.

In a discussion http://www.abclinuxu.cz/forum/show/213770, I was pointed to pango-view. The problem is manifested when using the xft and cairo backend, with the X backend rendering is "fine" (3 screenshots of that at the URL mentioned above).

Please let me know if you need more information.

Assigning to pango, since manifested with both xft and cairo backends 9not just xft as I had thought)

Doesn't seem to be a GNOME bug since the description mention qt3 having the issue

I understand that this has not been yet confirmed by someone else, but after seeing the screenshots, do you consider this "Low priority"? (I know this point is raised very frequently in the bug comments and I am sorry to be yet another person to say that). I respect it, though.

After progressive upgrades of hardy and reboot, the problem disappeared. It happened already once in December and lasted only for a few days, so I wonder whether I will see it again, in which case I will get back and reopen. Regards, VS.
