knetworkmanager doesn't detect the network when instaling from kubuntu-alternative-iso images

Bug Description

I installed kubuntu 7.04 with wubi 7.04 the instalation ends succesfully, but when I plug the network cable it doesn't detect the network setings, ip or any computers on the LAN, I don't have a direct connection to internet, There is a proxy throw I connect to internet, the Knetworkmanager doesn'yt dfetect it's settings, I fill them manully but it doesn't work.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
