Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubufox

There are many websites that provide Ubuntu software that is not in the official repositories, meaning that they list somewhat lengthy instructions to add a repository.

I propose a pseudo-protocol in Firefox to provide the easy addition of apt repositories.

It would be structured as follows:

 - Binary repository: apt-add://www.repository.test/ubuntu:gutsy:main
 - Source repository: apt-add://src/www.repository.test/ubuntu:gutsy:main

To add a key:

 - apt-key-add://www.repository.test/ubuntukey.asc

The functionality built into AptURL is in the format:

    apt+http://launchpad.net/~mvo/ppa?package=2vcard

but this doesn't work:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdebi/+bug/139227

and has also been disabled for dubious reasons:
