Bug Description

Ubuntu daily (hirsute) QA-install on
- dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)

crashed.

Prior installation was a QA-test install of Lubuntu hirsute, it was full disk. I decided to install alongside of this

When I initially started the installer I selected the options for full disk install (erase & install; sorry I'm normally using calamares so my terminology is likely wrong). I backed out and opted instead to use the auto-resize or install-alongside option.

Installer crashed prior to asking me to enter my details (name, username, password etc) without error appearing on screen

I repeated this install process

- install lubuntu hirsute daily (full disk install)
- install ubuntu hirsute daily (install alongside)

this time NO ISSUES at all

IDENTICAL box, identical thumb-drives; I didn't confirm the testcase on lubuntu was identical (but internet/no-internet, swap/noswap etc shouldn't make a difference given no partition change as it's swapfile..)

I suspect the difference is this time I didn't enter full.disk/erase.disk.and.install a possible a couple of screens, then BACK out to switch to install.alongside/auto(resize)..

Yes, that is quite possible. Ubiquity is not very robust in going back from certain steps, especially after selecting the partition layout.
