Greetings,
I accidentally killed my X with C-M-Backspace. I'm using kubuntu so kdm started automatically and gave me login screen. Unfortunately attempts to enter correct login information resulted to the login screen disappearing momentarily and then appearing again; I could not log in. The reason could be seen in ~/.xsession-errors:
stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Xsession: X session started for xyz at Tue Feb 19 22:07:06 EET 2008
fold: invalid number of columns: `0'
I changed all ${COLUMNS:-80} strings in Xsession to simply 80 and that helped, now I got a pop up message that said
Xsession: unable to launch "/etc/X11/
session --- "/etc/X11/
back to default session.
Hitting "Okay" (or whatever) allowed login to proceed and finish successfully. For what it's worth, /etc/X11/
Hi azure-iki,
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)
If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/ Xorg.0. log?
Thanks in advance.
The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.
