Bug Description

Binary package hint: gstreamer0.10-alsa

When using my Edirol UA25 USB sound card, I can use it fine when using pograms that use jack.
However, setting it as default sound card or selecting it for the various(?) types of sound types in gnome-sound-properties, and then testing sound in there or running totem or something else will instantly crash the playing program. Testing in gnome-sound-properties plays the test beep sound for a very shoprt time and then crashes with a Segmentation Fault. I suspect this to happen because the ua25 doesn't have a software mixer available. This was working in previous ubuntu versions (I'm on gutsy).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
