amarok freezes when pressing play

Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

I am using Kubuntu 7.10 with amarok 1.4.7 and have a very annoying bug.

About every twice time I start amarok, load some music from my collection to the playlist and hit "Play" the application freezes. After killing and restarting it works fine.

If I remember correctly the problem occured the first time when I tried the amarok 1.4.8 backport. But after downgrading to 1.4.7 the bug did not disappear.

Downgrading Amarok is not supported by upstream.
Your setting and/or database might be corrupted.
Please try to reproduce with Amarok 1.4.8 and empty settings/database.

I recently upgraded to hardy and the problem has gone. So this is probably caused by unsupported down- and upgrading of amarok and therefore a database inconsistency or something. (I just copied the music to the new installation and created a complete new amarok-database)

So you may close the bug. Thanks for your help!

It also happens on Hardy heron.

I am on Ubuntu Hardy heron 8.04 and until today Amarok was working well, but then suddenly it started to fail, the pc got so slow and then suddenly the screen was frozen, like blocked, and since that it's been happening everytime I open Amarok, any idea how to fix that or what could be causing that??

I t also happen to me on Hardy Heron, but when you restart the graphic environment. works great!

sup guys i actually registered just to tell you this

i had the exact same problem, i'm on ubuntu 8.04 and every time i pressed play amarok would freeze anywho
you know that GRUB thing that loads first when you turn on the computer well i basically just went on a different one
not recovery mode or anything it was like generic or something anyway hope this helps!
