When I push the special buttons to increase-decrease the brightness of the screen they don't work.

I've looked at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch and I've done the method 3 the output is:

[Thu Feb 21 22:14:15 2008] received event "video LCD 00000087 00000000"
[Thu Feb 21 22:14:15 2008] notifying client 8193[107:116]

[Thu Feb 21 22:14:15 2008] completed event "video LCD 00000087 00000000"

Pushing the FN+F6 button that decreases the brightness and:

Which release are you on? This might be related to 147772 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/147772)

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

Can I have you test with the program "xev"?

Run the program in a terminal. Press your brightness-up and brightness-down button should produce some keypressed/keyreleased events on the screen. Please attach the output from the terminal.
