... so that it works more like an mirror. So you can see and pose your self in more natural way.

Yeah, I'd like to see that horizontal mirroring is turned on by default (or configurable). Though it would be less useful for other video streams like TV tuners. It's not a big deal to press Effects -> Mirror Horizontally to mirror the image, but it would be nice if Cheese would remember its effects settings, or have a configuration option to turn certain effects on at startup.

It looks like this feature is already present in the released version for Ubuntu 8.04.
