Bug Description

In hardy:

system->preferences->keyboard->layouts->Layout Options ... "Use keyboard LED to show alternative layout."
No option in this category works.
For instance, if "NumLock LED ...." is checked, NumLock should light after changing layout. But it doesn't. (same applies for the other two options as well)

In gutsy:
all works as expected

It seems this bug is related to X.Org, not gnome-control-center. Setting to xkeyboard-config, where the option appears to be stored.

I confirm this bug. I use Caps Lock as keyboard indicator. It is very comfortable to see Caps Led light when alternate group is active. But in 8.04 Caps indicator does not follow current layout.

This option is more related to xorg server (messing with indicators) than xkeyboard-config.

The fix is described here:

you have to modify xorg.conf by hand.

What about Ubuntu 8.10? Do you confirm the bug? AFAIK, there is no more xorg.conf in Ubuntu, so I'm afraid to upgrade.

It is very likely that in Ubuntu 8.10 this bug disappears, at least for me. Caps led now follows layout strictly.
