Bug Description

Binary package hint: mumble

Mumble 1.1.3 has been released, which is a bugfix release, primarily fixing bugs for the Linux version (which means the Ubuntu version). I've also updated the packaging to fix a few bugs and spelling errors.

debian/changelog:

mumble (1.1.3-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * New upstream version, which fixes a few crashbugs.
  * Licensing issues worked out, package is now BSD licensed (same as
    source).
  * Mumble-specific changes to Speex are now in upstream Speex, and
this version includes all changes necessary to mumble to unbundle
Speex. Once Speex 1.2beta4 or 1.2 final is out, unbundling can be
    completed.
  * Changed to use PulseAudio as default audio device, as it's the
    new default in Hardy.
  * Moved the perl cgi scripts for mumble-server into a separate package,
which means mumble-server doesn't depend on httpd and
mail-transport-agent. Those dependencies were also missing from
    mumble-server.
  * Updated packaging to adhere to "Debian Developer's Reference -
    Best Packaging Practices."

Hi, you might want to check this out in the wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Sponsorship/SponsorsQueue

The preferred process it to up load a debdiff.

Hi, I did read it, and it said that for new upstream revisions you should use interdiff, and the interdiff page says that the sponsors queue prefers diff.gz :)

Anyway, I've attached a debdiff, an updated orig.gz and an interdiff to this. The update closes this bug in debian/changes.

The debdiff includes the changes in the upstream, which includes a few new translation strings. Unfortunately, it seems debdiff doesn't handle utf8 files very well, so instead of diffing just those lines, it's removed-all/insert-all for the files which makes the debdiff very large.

Just to keep this thread in sync with IRC:

16:46 < slicer> dholbach: Re bug 194836, it was my understanding that a feature freeze was not needed when there are only bugfixes involved?
16:47 < slicer> dholbach: If my understanding is wrong, would a link to the PPA buildlog satisfy the need for build logs? .. And should I file a new bug report, or just subscribe motu-release to the existing one?
16:48 < dholbach> slicer: no, you're right - I just read the changelog again and I think it'd qualify

You moved files from mumble-server to mumble-server-web - you need to set conflicts/replaces: http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html

Thanks for your comments.

I've attached an updated diff.gz which adds a
Replaces: mumble-server (<< 1.1.3)
for mumble-server-web

It also modifies the postinst script to set the homedirectory for the "mumble-server" user (to avoid creating a directory in /home), and the postrm purge script now removes the .config directory the program creates.
