Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-xine

I have a working DVB-S card (works well with kaffeine and xine).
I have channels.conf in ~/.xine
I run Totem (totem-xine) and select "Watch TV on 'DVB Adapter 0'", totem crashes!

I had success running: totem-xine dvb://channelname
In this case playback is good.

I've installed totem-dbg and tried to run totem-xine --debug, output attached.

I've also reported a playback bug for gstreamer backend, so I can't play dvb with neither backend.

I can confirm that the bug is not fixed.
I've installed Intrepid on my system but I can't test totem 2.23.x because there is a regression in the kernel and my dvb device is not recognized atm.
In the next days I'll try to boot Intrepid with an older or newer kernel too see if totem-xine works now.

totem-xine crashes when attempting to "watch TV on adapter 0", while xine-ui or calling totem-xine with a DVB://[channelname] URI works.

DVB-T card in my case, ~/.xine/channels.conf known to be well formed.

** (totem-xine:12213): WARNING **: Metadata for index 0 not in UTF-8 for mrl 'dvb://WDR K\xf6ln'

This seems to be the problem. totem-xine doesn't seem to like non-english characters in channel.conf.
i tried a channels.conf where i edited out all channels with non-us characters.... it works then
