all processes crashes after booting

Bug Description

I use gutsy gibbon without any Updates because the system crashes before updating.
The Installation was successful but after rebooting the system starts and asks for login and so on and then it takes about half an minute until the first error-message is displayed: (e.g.) "Nautilus seems to crash. ...". I don't find out a special program which crashes: It's another one every reboot... sometimes the Panels and the Icons aren't visible and sometimes nothing responses. I have an AMD 64bit 3400+ Processor with 1024MB of Ram. (Windows XP is running without problems and the memory test of Ubuntu 7.10 brings no errors and I've tested my Processor with prime95=>No errors).

I had installed Ubuntu 7.10 6 month ago and there were no errors for 3 month. Then my Motherboard and my power pack were damaged and I exchanged them with used ones from friends. After Re-Installing Windows and Ubuntu, Ubuntu didn't work anymore. If I boot from desktop-CD there are the same errors and Knoppix (linux with KDE) also don't work anymore.

is this still a problem for you? are you sure this really is a ubuntu software/driver problem and not somehow hardware related? the bug could be processed more efficiently with some additional information...

Yes, it's still a problem. It could also be a hardware-problem, but
windows XP runs without any problems, except for that one game that ran
before the change of the power supply and the main board now hangs up
during the game (It's NeedForSpeed - Underground2)....
But the problem has to be something about Linux in general, because no
linux distribution runs (I've tested Ubuntu 7.04, 7.10, 8.04, XUbuntu
7.10, Ubuntustudio, Knoppixx [KDE Desktop]).

I don't think, that this box runs linux correctly again. Next year I'll
buy a new box and, however, up to then I have to work with Windows.

Thanks for your answer, Andrew
