Typing a wrong value into a branch field gives unhelpful error message

Bug Description
If you mistype a branch name into a bug-branch linking form, LP raises the error "Invalid value". This is very unhelpful, and contradicts our UI guidelines.
The error message should say what was wrong, or at least tell me what a valid value looks like.
