Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/2008020710 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.12
KDE
Linux willi 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 07:42:25 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Package information:
firefox 2.0.0.12+2nobinonly+2-0ubuntu0.7.10
mozilla-firefox-locale-de-de 2.0.0.7+1-0ubuntu2 (gutsy)
I think I have an ubuntu-specific firefox package installed, but can't find its name.

Firefox does a segmentation fault on startup. I could reproduce this with the attached user profile.

*** e = [Exception... "ServiceManager::GetService returned failure code:" nsresult: "0x80570016 (NS_ERROR_XPC_GS_RETURNED_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://browser/content/utilityOverlay.js :: getShellService :: line 294" data: no]

(gecko:7946): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_parent_window: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

(gecko:7946): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_is_viewable: assertion `window != NULL' failed

(gecko:7946): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_get_parent: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I don't know where to find the core dump. I could start firefox again after tidying up the prefs.js.

Best regards,
Hauke

Sorry but Firefox-2 is getting near EOS and they wont be fixing anything but major issues security issues mainly. Please try to reproduce this with Firefox-3.0 if you can reproduce this bug please click on Help > Report a problem and file the bug that way. This does not mean that it wasn't already fixed.
