Bug Description

So far this has been related to the HP tx1000 computer series but it probably relates to more tablet PCs, the touchscreen behaved well in Gutsy, using this procedure(http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4197376&postcount=542). Although the procedure does not yield the same results in Hardy(I've tested in every version since alpha1). The drivers don't seem to load or something like it.

The procedure is pretty straight foward, although I noticed that the "ServerLayout" Section has been removed from hardy's xorg, while it was present at gutsy's

any help in the issue is appreciated

I have some things to add.

First of all, it is the tx1000z series, and that includes all sorts of tx1100, tx1200, and tx1300 series laptops/tablets.

Secondly, I can't seem to find a license or copyright notice or anything for the driver. I hope it is public domain, but I am pretty sure that package does not include the sources for everything, such as the graphical utility.
There is the xserver-xorg-input-evtouch driver, but from what I understand it doesn't work very well at all.

3rdly, I would bet that the driver isn't working because hardy uses X.org 7.3. They don't explain in the driver documentation what is the latest version of X.org it supports, it merely says that one part of the driver is for X.org 6.9 and later.

I need to correct myself. After installing the drivers and running the graphical config program, I saw a copyright notice within it.

I have this problem in Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Beta. Tapping the screen causes the mouse to click, but the cursor does not move. The TouchKit app does not show any tab besides "About" either. The computer is a hp tablet tx1000. I am attaching my xorg.conf file.

Not our bug, instead the provider of the driver should fix it to work with more recent versions.

Changed in xorg:

So, the hardware manufacturer has published a driver that now works in Hardy. Perhaps we now need a "needs-packaging" bug.

The link posted by Fabián does not work (any longer). The following link to the manufacturer's drivers works for me:
