installer crashes in keyboard layout selection

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Hardy 8.04 beta, installation via live-cd (second boot menu option)

Installation proceeds in pt_BR

In the keyboard layout selection window, Brazil is pre-selected on the left pane. If I click on any of the options of the right pane, like "Brazil - Native", the installer crashes and brings X down with it. I get the gdm login screen.

If I start the install in english (US), the keyboard layout selection screen doesn't crash, not even if I manually select Brazil on the left and Native on the right.

The same crash happens under the same conditions inside a virtualbox virtual machine.

Actually, just leaving that keyboard layout screen, even by clicking "back" ("anterior" in pt_BR), crashes the installer.

Thanks for your report. It's actually the X server itself that's crashing; see bug 184651.
