Description: Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release: 8.04

Description:
The problem happens on clean install of hardy beta. It is traditional chinese (Taiwan), but the problem is unlikely be related to locale. In hardy beta everything is fine, as I can surf web and write things here. I aware there are many updates, so I applied all updates from Synaptic.

After reboot for applying updates, my computer cannot access network. The eth0 is fine, but it cannot utilize wired network. The computer have no wireless network access despite my router support it. On trying to configure the network, it keep saying it is "protected wired network" and either paraphrase or password is needed.

I cannot solve the problem alone without network access. I can't report bug by the bug reporting software. Even the O/S does not realize there is a bug. I had to reinstall everything. I applied all updates except four:

dhcp3-client 3.0.6-dfsg-1ubuntu6
dhcp3-common 3.0.6-dfsg-1ubuntu6
hal 0.5.11-rc2-1ubuntu5
hal-info 20080317+git20080318-1ubuntu1

For those related packages, I am extracting the results of running command apt-cache policy):
(The first one means already installed, and the second one means available today and to be installed)
已安裝:3.0.6.dfsg-1ubuntu5
  候選:3.0.6.dfsg-1ubuntu6

3-install same issues, only way to connect without admin rights is to run in "roaming" mode This appears to have significant security problems for me with FF Mozilla browser. While accessing "legitimate" link the browser froze and would not allow further action until installation of "suitable" plugin. I rebooted without doing so manually clearing cache repeatably, upon reboot browser allowed malicious code to penetrate my proxy server (not logged in) and install rootkit/backdoor. Went back to 7.10 and only run static IP's.

I to have had a similar problem. I download Hardy just there 4 days ago and been try to get my internet connection working on the liveCD.
It detects the network, but when I try to connect a box pops up say " Connect to a 802.1X protected wired network"

It then asks me for a
 -network name
 -EAP method
 -Phase2 Type
 -Identity
 -Password
 -anonymous Identity
 -client cert files
 -CA cert files
 -Private key password

I rang my ISP thinking my they had something to do with this protected setting and surprisingly enough I got to talk to some who had used ubuntu personally
and he said that it might be something to do with my passwords or authorization set on ubuntu. That he had tried it himself a while back and it worked fine.
So maybe the update has caused the problem??
