Bug Description

I know that I was able to connect to this network on Ubuntu 7.10 and have tried to use the same settings as before. Additionally, Network Manager is able to see the 802.1x network and has a prompt to connect to it but when I try to connect, it just sits and hangs there until it times out. I am using Ubuntu Hardy AMD64 with all packages up to date as of 4/7/08.

Network configuration used:
EAP Method: PEAP
Key Type: Dynamic WEP
Phase2 Type: MSCHAPV2
using school issued client certificate for CA Certificate

Version of Network Manager and nm-applet:
Network Manager: 0.6.6-0ubuntu5
nm-applet: 0.6.6-0ubuntu2

Can you post your wpa_supplicant conf? without comments ( grep -v "^#")

I don't seem to have a wpa_supplicant.conf file, or at least not under /etc/wpa_supplicant/, which is odd as I can connect to my WPA2 network at home. However, with a bit of searching I think I found the files that network manager uses for connection information under my $home/.gconf/system/networking/wireless/networks/ directory.

Yes I configured the CA cert through network manager, in the CA cert file field. I probably should have added this earlier but to get the configuration I had, I manually set the wireless security to 'WPA Enterprise' before filling in the rest of my settings. I don't know if that affects anything or not, just putting it on record.

What wireless drivers/device are you using? Could your problem be related to this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/217653 ? I had some trouble with the Hardy beta with the intel drivers on my university network. I havent tested it anymore, still running gutsy.

this issue doesnt apply in intrepid anymore. there are new isues with PEAP though, a bunch of them should be fixed by the latest packages in http://launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive.
