Hi, thanks Matthew Garrett for replying, i dont know how to upgrade the kernel,
but i searched in synaptic for "kernel 2.6.12" and found the one installed
2.6.12-8.12 and the latest version 2.6.12-8.13 some other 2.6.12-9 images exist
but not upgradable. Here is my source list:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ breezy main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ breezy-security main restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ breezy-updates main restricted

You need to update synaptic's database of available software. To do this, click
the reload button. Then the newer version of linux-image-686 should appear, and
you should be able to install that.

Hello, after upgrading to latest kernel 2.6.12-9 and software from synaptic the
problem still stands, Anyway my power status when in batery mode reduces
normally and when connected shows recharging, so i guess the rest is a mild or
unimportant issue. Thanks for your concern.

I confirm this issue: when the laptop is plugged in the ACPI status for the
battery is still "discharging":
$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: discharging
present rate: 0 mA
remaining capacity: 3936 mAh
present voltage: 12486 mV

$ uname -a
Linux neon 2.6.12-9-386 #1 Fri Sep 30 23:44:45 UTC 2005 i686 GNU/Linux

Otherwise when laptop is not plugged in or the battery is recharging the ACPI
status is correct.

I can verify this bug on my HP Pavilion ze4900

When the battery is completely charged while running on AC, the icon is the
battery saying "discharging" with 98%.

If I unplug the AC, nothing changes. However, if I wait for a while until the
battery has lost some capacity and then put it back on AC the icon will be the
charging plug saying "charging".

If I can help with some more information, let me know.

I can confirm this bug an a NX9030 running .
I am currently using it on battery after unplugging it, the tooltip says the Computer is currently on battery power, however the icon is displaying an empty battery which is charging.

I am using kernel version 2.6.15-23-386. If you need any extra info, I will be happy to help.

Hello, thank you all for sharing your experiences, i'm sorry for not being
able to confirm the problem on dapper or breezy final because i'm running
SimplyMepis 3.43 now "which doesn't have the problem" However the new
SimplyMepis 6 will be based on ubuntu dapper and i'll be testing it once the
final version is released.

Update.

While charging, the correct icon is displayed.
Once charged but still on AC, the icon is for a fully charged battery, not one that is on AC still.
When the AC is removed the icon is correct - fully charged battery, but when placed back on AC, the icon doesnt change.
