Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm using up-to-date Hardy and the latest update of the intel driver to version 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu11 made suspend/resume & hibernation unusable.
I'm reporting this as a new bug, because this happenes only with the new linux-image 2.6.24-15-generic.

The previous version of the intel driver (2:2.2.1-1ubuntu10) had not caused such problems with this image version though (2.6.24-15-generic)
.
I rebooted now in the older version of the kernel ( 2.6.24-14-generic) and everything works fine with the driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu11 too.

This could be a liitle confusing so I'll describe it like this:

intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu11 & kernel version 2.6.24-15-generic => resume failes with black screen and nothing happenes after the drive gets spinned & awake from hibernation hangs on "local-premount"

intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu11 & kernel version 2.6.24-14-generic => everything is OK

intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu10 & kernel version 2.6.24-15-generic => everything is OK

My Video Card: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)

I loading up also the Xorg.log file with both kernels.

I must have mistaken something.

The previous version of the intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu10 does not work with the actual kernel image 2.6.24-15-generic too.

so the above line:
intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu10 & kernel version 2.6.24-15-generic => has the the same issues/failures regarding resume/hibernation as with the intel driver 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu11.

It stays though, that both driver versions wotk fine with the older kernel image 2.6.24-14-generic.

Should I report this then as a kernel bug?

I have the same problem. I think the problem started to appear after upgrading to version 2.6.24-15.27 of linux-image-2.6.24-15-generic.So I think it is a kernel bug.

Well, the latest kernel update seems to fix that issue.I have tested both suspend/resume and hibernation and everything is working as expected. So if nobody has problems too, you can close this bug report.

And thanks for the fast response providing an update , it was an annoying one and it is good, that it is now gone.

I can confirm that kernel revision 2.6.24-16 has fixed this problem. :-)

Removing linux-source-2.6.24 task since beginning with Hardy bugs should be reported against "linux" package. Thanks.
