Bug Description

I did a dist-upgrade of my Hoary install to Breezy the other day. One of the
more major problems I experienced was that many icons were missing, from
folders, "show desktop", "trash", etc, the desktop was rather ugly.

After an hour of trying to find out where the icons were stored, and playing
around trying to fix this, I finally fixed it by going to
System->Preferences->Theme and changing it from "Custom" to any other preset
theme. In Hoary, I did not change much for my theme, I just changed it to the
ClearLook theme and then changed the blue to a less bright colour.

Any more info needed?

did you use the clearlooks icon theme before updating? upstream dropped it while
moving the theme to GNOME

To be honest, I can't remember exactly. What I *do* remember, is changing it to
"ClearLooks" theme and then changing the blue to something like "ClearSky",
because it was a lighter blue.

I do have a screenshot left over of my Hoary install, which shows some desktop
icons, so you may be able to tell: http://users.on.net/~lncoshea/carey/ubuntu1.jpg

I hope the screenshot is enough info on the icons.

happens if you use an icon theme which has been dropped

I had the same problems. Indeed used "ClearLooks". I didn't have the
ubuntu-desktop package anymore.
