Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-new

I'm using NV 7300GT & BenQ FP71G+ Monitor. Before I installed the NV driver from the restricted driver manager, the resolution was ok. But after installed the driver, and restarted my X server, it said that the resolution was too high for my monitor.

I could still enter my username and password, then the welcome music aroused.

I didn't have any problem with it before until i tried Ubuntu 8.04 RC, and i've found someone who has the same problem with me in forums.

Sorry for my pool English. Hope you can understand what i've said.

I also installed NVIDIA driver. I can still use UBUNTU but package "childsplay" chooses a resolution too high for my monitor.

Hi huyiwei,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

Hi Bryce,
I've solved this problem out by choosing a similar monitor from Graphic and Screen(don't know what's the exact name of the application, I'm using Chinese as my default language).
This problem may caused by unknow monitor.
I no longer used Hardy and upgraded to Intrepid. This problem then never occured.
