Bug Description

In my case, this is a recurring bug. It happened since 7.10 even when booting the Desktop AMD64 7.10 live cd. It happens more frequently maybe (50/50) in Hardy especially in the my customized 2.6.25 kernel. I can boot up if I disconnect from the network, however when reconnecting it could freeze again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description does not yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies Thanks in advance!

uname -a
Linux keith-desktop 2.6.25 #1 SMP Sat Apr 26 15:49:49 CDT 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Note this is a kernel 2.6.25 whereas the initial attachment was using 2.6.24. If you like
I can reproduce this on any 64 bit kernel since and including the Gutsy live cd. The most common
symptom of this bug seems to be a keyboard freeze that occurs at the logon screen. The original
code snippet was cut from the complete kernel log which also shows boots using 2.6.24 and 2.6.25
which I can provide on request.

Could you please download the latest Alpha CD image of Intrepid and test this particular bug just using the Live CD? You can find the latest image at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . Your testing can help make Ubuntu and the open source ati driver even better!
Thanks in advance.

I've pasted too fast. Don't pay attention to "the open source ati driver" sentence. But nevertheless try to reproduce the bug with the live CD . Thanks.

I can no longer reproduce the bug. About a month ago I had to replace my router and since that time I have not experienced the bug.
The replaced router, a Linksys WRT54GC with firmware 1.02.8, is non-functional. The new router is a Linksys WRT54GL running (Linux) Tomato firmware 1.19. Both routers were running in DHCP mode.
Booting the AMD-64 Intrepid Alpha-4 as well as the original Hardy release image several times show no skge bug related problems. Good luck on Intrepid.
