Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
user@system:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 7.10
Release: 7.10
user@system:~$ apt-cache policy do-release-upgrade
W: Không thể định vị gói do-release-upgrade
I left the upgrade from gutsy to hardy run unattended.
Upon checking the proceedings, there were some crashes from programs running in the tray, since their dependencies were not met (scim and two others, slipped my mind because it did not seem a problem right then).
There was an error (in Vietnamese, the default language on the system) naming something that could be handled by dpkg -a. There was no info in the detailed view of the update manager, so I continued.
Then there was an error quite clearly belonging to the upgrade process, so I took notice of the details in the update manager, which said that a resource was temporarily unavailable.
All of this occured within a few minutes.
The update manager crashed on the last error.
Here I am now, filling out a more or less incomplete bug report. I will restart the update manager, to see what it finds.
Details of the system running:
- kubuntu x386-64bit upgrade from gutsy to hardy
- laptop connected to the net by UTP cable
- AMD64 dual core, 2G ram
A previous upgrade from feisty to gutsy did not have major impact.
Regards and keep up the good work!
Thanks for reporting this. We really need more complete error messages to find out what is wrong. If this error persists could you please paste the contents of the terminal output into the bug report. At first glance it looks like you have mis-typed the upgrade command.
apt-cache policy do-release-upgrade is not correct to start an upgrade. Please check the instructions linked below for the recommended method /help.ubuntu. com/community/ HardyUpgrades# head-e7f287c730 b93116f89de7ea7 e05efbe95fa6dd1
