Bug Description

Hi, I saw some bug reports of which my may be a duplicate but my symptoms are a bit different. I'm writing this after my sister's explanations of the problem which were a bit unclear. So...
The system seems to hang with the screensaver frozen and is totally unresponsive (except to hard reboot ;-)). The only message in the logs that seems related is something like: "compiz.real[6028]: segfault at 3f800008 eip 08055a6d esp bfecc6c0 error 4".
This happens on Ubuntu 8.04 on a Vaio vgn-ng180e laptop with an "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller" with pretty much default xorg.conf and "Extra" effects turned on from the preferences.
