Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

version upgrade Kubuntu 7.10 to 8.4 via Adept. refused to authenticate >100 packages. I am new to Linux, don't know how to retrieve the list to post it here. Hopefully Report button sent it w/o my interference.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
 2. the behavior you expected, and
 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!

Thanks for your bugreport.

Please try to click on the "reload" or "refresh" button in adept and try the upgrade again.

I had the same issue with standart upgrade procedure (Adept's "Version upgrade" since I am using Kubuntu).

There was an error window on stage "Getting new software channels -> Checking update manager", which tells something like "Unable to authenticate some packages" and lists over 100 ones, and there was no way of proceeding the upgrade.

I was using one of official Russian mirrors (mirror.yandex.ru) and switch from it to the official repo fixed the problem. Perhaps you should notify them or remove Yandex from advised mirrors.
