Bug Description

I'll attach system info shortly.

Dell Latitude D500
This is actually an improvement over Gutsy. In Gutsy, my system would lockup hard. I have already attempted the PipeA fix.

There are a few other problems as well, which may or may not be related to this bug:

* Suspend to ram doesn't work
* My other tty's are a very low resolution. seems like the console video is screwy.
* No splash screen on boot

Compiz works fine on this laptop, however. I also tested this with Compiz disabled, and the same problem occurs.

A workaround for this issue is switching tty's back and forth.

There are also times when the display will turn off, but toggling the brightness all the way down, then back up restores the view.
