Bug Description

Hello

I installed the Breezy preview from scratch on one of my computers (Ubuntu never
installed before on it). I download everyday's upgrades (including today's). And
I still dont see my USB mass storages.

For your info, it worked on my other Hoary and also on Hoary upgraded to Breezy,
but not on Breezy from scatch which is surprising !!

I hope you'll be able to fix that bug which is quite disturbing. Do your best
(as usual !!)

Have a nice day

Could you try upgrading to Breezy Colony 5 and see whether that helps.

But obviously that was on a different computer, since you never installed Ubuntu
on this one before.

I'm willing as you recommend to try w/ Colony5, but I just found the English
version here
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/breezy/colony-5/
Do you know where I can find the French one in order not to destroy what I
already did

Thx

Maybe I'll have the French version choice inside, (I forgot about it from my
first install) I'll check anyway and come back 2U after

I did it.
I downloaded the colony5 x386 install.iso
checked w/ md5sum
installed after partitioning and formatting
/ = 5 G
/home = 4 G
/swap = 0.4 G
and updated/ upgraded it as of today

1- w/o USB key inserted: I got, from the "black background menu", on the line
"starting hotplug subsystem":NO OK
2- I restarted w/ USB key inserted: no "black background menu", but a standard
editor saying :
- USB 3.1 device description read/64 error-71
- device not accepted address 4 error-71

Here we go!! any idea what happens to me after installing and reformating
carefully from scratch?

Thx for your help, I shouldn't be the only one facing that??!!

First of all sorry for some "non effective/productive" messages on my part, I
did not know exactly how to answer. Now it's OK and I won't spoil your time!!

Where do I stand now.

1- You can read on comment #5 what is the situation regarding the first pc I
struggle with (let's call it pc1). You have to know, I installed colony 5 on it
(as a replacement of preview) KEEPING the existing /home

2- on pc2 (which already worked fine with Hoary) I reinstalled everything (/ and
/home) w/ colony 5 + today's upgrades and here we go:

When I insert USB key:
a) the LED flashes (good news)
b) I see "USB bar" in the "poste de travail" (I think it's called workstation in
English?), but not on the Desktop
c) when I click on it, I've got the following message:
"erreur l'UDI fourni n'est pas un volume montable" which I could translate as:
"error, the involved UDI is not a mountable volume", BUT it worked on the SAME
PC on HOARY ????

Does all that help you? I can make other tests if you wish, just let me know!!!
I'm pretty sure other people should face the same situation because I did
everything from scratch on pc2, reformatting the entire disk.

Thx again for your help, please keep me informed

Hello everyone
Back home for one week. I did even better than installing Colony 5. I installed,
from scratch, the brand new released version 5.10.

Absolutely NO DIFFERENCE:

my USB key is not seen at all????
for your info, and from the beginning, when I boot, at the line: "starting
hotplug subsystem" OK is NOT written, just skipped over.

Any idea? is it on your part or on my part???

Thx in advance for your help, have a nice day

This is an old story coming from Breezy and working fine now, should be replaced by my newest 28833 bug dealing w/ the same subject.

Thx
