Bug Description
I use ubuntu 8.04.
Today I got updates for apache version 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.1. Since I don't need apache anymore I decided to uninstall it in synaptic. Then i went to update manager and check, but the updates were still there. After computer restart the updates were still there. Was there a simple way to get rid of the updates or didn't I uninstall properly? If not then there is something wrong, since periodically I get updates for stuff that I realise I don't need anymore and would like to remove it.
In synaptic I removed all the packages with apache in them, apache2.2-common, mpm-fork and utils, and libapache2-

Can you just check that you definitely removed the main package ('apache2'). Also, check in update manager exactly which package it is offering an update for--I'm guessing it'll be the main one, apache2, but if it's something else, double check that you removed that.
In general, uninstalling everything with the word apache in should be unnecessary--due to the way package managers work, you should be able to just remove the key package that you originally told it to install (most likely 'apache2'), and it will take care of clearing up any dependencies you no longer need.
