Bug Description

Right now, if you set your laptop to go into standby - when the monitor is shut. Then, if you press the shutdown button (to get the shutdown menu) and shut the laptop...

The laptop will standby, however on resume it will not prompt you for a password (as it normally does and should) but rather it will resume with you at the menu.

This is a security bug.

I have experienced a similar issue with various different applications, though have been as yet unable to work out exactly the chain of events that causes the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I have not been able to reproduce this bug, what settings are you using, and what steps do you take to reproduce this behavior?

Hi,

I have since switched laptops and am now in Ubuntu 8.10. I just tried
to replicate the bug and was not able to. At the same time, I am not
able to get it to go to standby when I close my laptop.

There must be something different between this laptop and the Compaq
that I had the issue with.

I will keep trying to see how to get it to go into stand by again,
with the closing of the laptop and will send a note when I find it
again.

Cheers

Johnny

If you are able to reproduce, please open a new bug; I'll close this one for now.
