Thanks for your bug report. However, I cannot reproduce your problem. If I start anjuta and use File->Open to open e.g. .bashrc, the file is opened. Same for a .sh file.
Please describe again how exactly you are opening the file (and - I don't know whether it's of any importance - whether you use the scintilla or the gtksourceview editor).

The document viewer is: Scintilla

Method of file opening to reproduce:
Through Nautilus, right click on the documents and select Anjuta to open.

Successes:
 * Opening the specified files via the left hand file window.
 * Opening the specified files from the Anjuta file menu.

This right click and open issue is also present when attempting to open .c, .cpp, .h files etc.

Opening with right click from nautilus works for me... Regarding your last comment: you mean you can't open *any* files with anjuta from nautilus? What happens if you open a terminal and type "anjuta filename"?

Note: This is hardy with all updates and proposed updates.

All all get when attempting to open via right click via Nautilus is a blank document in Anjuta.

From the terminal 'anjuta <filename>' produces the following output:

** (anjuta:11889): CRITICAL **: anjuta_document_load: assertion `anjuta_utils_is_valid_uri (uri)' failed

(anjuta:11889): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_uri_new_private: assertion `text_uri != NULL' failed

Still not sure what the difference between your and my version (also fully updated) is, but I can't reproduce these error messages (and the resulting problem)... Does removing (or renaming) your ~/.anjuta directory change anything?

This is strange... I can now reproduce the problem (with the same error messages you get, typing 'anjuta file' only opens a blank file), but only if I use gtksourceview, with scintilla it works.

In /usr/share/applications/anjuta.desktop, try changing 'Exec=anjuta %F' to 'Exec=anjuta %u'.

I've only experienced this with gtksourceview.

Testing on Ubuntu 9.04 (Anjuta 2.26.0.0) shows all files load but are displayed under the starter page. Upstream bug report opened about this:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=582726

Can anyone reproduce files not being loaded in Ubuntu 9.04?
