Bug Description
Binary package hint: xorg
I just installed a Xubuntu 8.04 on an Amilo M 6500
As VGA card this laptop has a "Silicon Motion, Inc. SM720 Lynx3DM", X chooses the siliconmotion driver.
But The display resolution is not correct, it's always 800x600.

I think this thread is about Ubuntu 5.10, but nevertheless this bug should be fixed ;-)
I know this is a very old laptop - but maybe someone knows how to give it a fast fix.

There are related bugs:
Bug #144182 - Gutsy - Silicon Motion video driver freezes, corruption, and error reports
Bug #136853 - Screen blanks and freezes after a few minutes of idling, possibly due to broken DPMS
and maybe this one is a duplicate of one of them.
