Bug Description
Live/install DVD 5.10 final fails to boot on iMac G5 (rev 2) system with no
previous OS installed but Mac OS X 10.4 (with all current patches). Crash
happens after boot prompt (live/install/
Reproducible and consistent. Verified with two separate downloads of the
PowerPC DVD. The problem is not the download or DVD burn. The DVD itself is
readable inside Mac OS X, and I can browse DVD files easily. It just won't boot.
Best guess is that this is a bluetooth/wireless bug. Seems specific to the
wireless keyboard Apple model #A1016. The wireless mouse is Apple model #A1015.
They were purchased new with the system and there is not other keyboard or
mouse attached. The system is just a few months old, this is not a hardware
problem.
I can't type anything at the open firmware (white screen of death) prompt as
requested. Keys do nothing. Also, when rebooting into Mac OS X 10.4, the
wireless keyboard is suddenly "missing" and must be "rediscovered" according to
the usual Mac OS X procedure. Mouse and keyboard are both wireless, but the
mouse has no problems on reboot. It is just the keyboard. (Don't assume the
mouse works in Ubuntu, this phenomenon inside Mac OS X is observed upon reboot.
Something happens in the firmware that wrecks just the keyboard setup, not the
mouse. Ubuntu DVD will not boot at all.)
Here is a verbatim transcript of the "white screen of death" (open firmware).

At this point the system is hung and requires a hard power down to respond. The
keys do not function at all.

the issue being related to bluetooth
