Bug Description

USB mouse is not recognized in Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5 using kernel 2.6.27.

The mouse is a Microsoft wireless usb mouse/keyboard combo. The USB keyboard is recognized and works. Also tried a Razer usb mouse and it also did not work.

No mouse is identified in xorg.conf file.

The USB mouse works when Intrepid is booted into 2.6.24 kernel.

USB mouse works fine for me. Is this regular wireless or bluetooth? I have a MS Bluetooth mouse that used for testing. Following this link: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-setup-bluetooth-keyboard-and-mouse-in-ubuntu.html I was able to connect the MS BT mouse.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information.

Please include the information requested at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHardwareDetection as separate attachments. It would also help if you could attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Thanks in advance

Did you test to plug in the mouse AFTER startup? Is it still not recognized?

Thanks for your help with this. I just booted the live cd for Intrepid Alpha 6 and after unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in, it began to work.

Thanks again for the help.

Chris, thank you. I just booted up with the intrepid alpha 6 cd, and after unplugging and plugging the mouse in after booting up, the mouse began to work.

Sorry for not initially including the appropriate information, I will read that wiki page before reporting future bugs.

Thanks again.

But if the mouse is plugged in during boot-up it still doesn't work?

No, not on the initial update. I had to unplug it and plug it back in.

Dale,

Does the mouse still not work if you have it connected when you boot your machine (do you still have to disconnect and reconnect it), or is this fixed? It's not clear from your response.

If you still have this issue, then please provide the information I requested earlier. It would be great if you could provide your dmesg and the output of lsusb (as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingHardwareDetection) after booting with the mouse connected, and then provide the same information again after disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse.

Thanks

Thanks for your patience Chris.

The mouse and keyboard now both work every time I boot up.

I believe the problem is fixed, and this bug could be closed. This is the first bug that I've reported, and I am not sure if I should have closed the bug myself.

Thanks again for all your help.
