Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. After looking through your logs, it seems that your PCM channel volume is set to 0%. This needs to be increased in order for you to hear sound. Could you please try increasing this? You can do this by right-clicking on the volume applet, selecting 'Open Volume Control', and then adjusting the slider for the PCM channel.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for replying. :)

Since reporting the bug, I tried installing the driver that was needed for Gutsy, but it wouldn't install, saying that alsaconf couldn't be found. The (failed) installation removed older drivers, so now the volume won't change. I'm going to reinstall Alpha 6 when it is released today, and if it's still broken, I'll do as you requested. If it is, I'll post here again.

Thanks again for helping.

I did a fresh install of Alpha 6, and the sound was detected out of the box.

You can mark it as fixed.
