Bug Description

Binary package hint: jd

Please sync jd 2.0.2-080919-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Reason for FFe is following:
JD is "2ch browser". "2ch (2 channel)" is most famous Bulletin Board System in Japan.
In September, 2ch changed protocol. Since then, old JD ( < 2.0.1-080914+svn2349-1)
can not write comment.

Current package has ubuntu revision. This was published to solve FTBFS. (cf. LP: #283551)
However its bug was fixed in causal package, therefore no longer needed.

Changelog since current intrepid version 1.9.9-080415-3ubuntu1:

jd (1:2.0.2-080919-2) unstable; urgency=low

We are currently in FeatureFreeze which means that new upstream versions need an exception to get accepted into the archive now. Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess for how to get an exception for a package in universe.

Thank you for your advice. However I noticed that could not build JD in intrepid by glibmm2.4's bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=529496

This bug affect older package of jd 1.9.9, thus jd 1.9.9 can not be build ("FTBFS" bug?).

Sorry for my unconfirmation. And if this bug are fixed, I will explain the reason which this sync request is appropriate to FFe.

Hi,

I believe this package will still require a freeze exception.

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess

Fixing important bugs is a positive though, and will make
it easier to get the new version in, but it may be better
to backport the fixes.

Thanks,

James

I filled bug for GNOME 529496 to #283551 , and uploaded patch file from upstream. If it is fixed, I will reopen FFe.

Question from the archive:

[00:34] <cjwatson> ScottK: was James Westby's patch (undeffing HOST_NOT_FOUND) deliberately dropped? have you confirmed that it still builds?

Mitsuya Shibata (cosmos-door) wrote :

Yes, I dropped Westby's patch deliberately. "undeffing HOST_NOT_FOUND" problem is fixed in glibmm2.4 2.18.1. At the same time, this patch is no longer needed. Upstream's changelog is below:

2008-10-04 Jonathon Jongsma <email address hidden>

       * gio/src/error.hg: add a workaround for the HOST_NOT_FOUND symbol
       conflicts, as suggested by Szilárd Pfeiffer in Bug #529496
       * tests/giomm_ioerror/main.cc: add a test for this
