Bug Description
Using KLaptop Control center I enabled suspend on lid switch close (which works
fine). The problem is that if I issue a shutdown command and close the lid
before the shutdown process has completed, the system enters a suspend state.
Resuming from this state, the machine then continues to shutdown. The easy
solution is to wait for the shutdown process to complete before closing the lid,
but that can sometimes be a pain. I have not tested this on Ubuntu, only
Kubuntu. I assumed that the shutdown process would take precedence over the
standby.

Same thing happens for me on an IBM T42. Except it often does not resume properly and just hangs with what ever was in the frame buffer displayed on screen.
Suspending while shutting down is likely to yeild wierd behavior depending on what gets shutdown before suspend attempts to happen.
