Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-files

Newbies can switch away from Xorg to a different virtual terminal by accident. If they do that, they won't know where they are, and won't know how to return. The patch below fixes the problem. Could you please apply it to /etc/issue? If not, why not?

Someone on Freenode #ubuntu-bugs thought that /etc/issue is shown when people ssh in. But they were wrong. In reality, sshd does not show anyone the file's contents unless you specify "Banner /etc/issue" in /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

Wouldn't you want "Banner /etc/issue.net"?

Mmmm.... I hope this gets implemented.
If my sister hits that key combo, she's going to FREAK out! "OMIgawds, I broke my computerzz!!"... Then she'll call me, and ask me to reinstall Windows.

Such a little thing like that message can make a BIG difference.
