I am using the pulse output plugin. Before starting gxmms2 "xmms2 volume_list" returns "master = 100". After starting gxmms2 x"mms2 volume_list" returns "master = 0".

I don't know C that well, but from glancing over the code, it looks like the program is trying to retrieve the initial volume from the left channel, but xmms2 doesn't return a result for the left channel. It only returns a master volume.

gxmms2 (0.7.0-2ubuntu1) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Added debian/gxmms2.desktop and moved xmms2-core from Suggests to Depends
because this package contains the xmms2 icon.
  * gxmms2src/gxmms2.c: Do not assume that the volume control has a left
channel (fixes muting of playback on launch, LP: #292822).

Is it really necessay moving xmms2-core to Depends field?

gxmms2 installs an icon, usr/share/gxmms2/gxmms2_mini.xpm, could you think it's possible using it as .desktop icon?

The icon in /usr/share/gxmms2/gxmms2_mini.xpm is too small and does not look nice. It's a black note and you cannot distinguish it from a dark background (when you use a dark theme like DarkRoom).

Maybe we should split the xmms2 icon from xmms2-core and put it in an extra package called xmms2-icon?
