Bug Description

When I changed the sounds preferences, I had to restart my computer to apply the new configuration. There must be a “kill” and “restart” options (like Xscreensaver), for example. Or, even better for human beings and simple users, a button Apply.

These settings should take effect right away, and they do for me. Can you explain in more detail what you did?

For the change to take effect, I must uncheck the box "Sounds for events" : then, I won't hear a sound!
But if I want to choose what to hear and when in the second page, it doesn't work at all. For example, I removed all sounds for error messages, opening sound and I kept only sounds for the loggin and when I receive emails : it didn't work. All sounds was playing.
(with French version...)

I am setting the package to gnome-desktop - please correct me if I am wrong. I can reproduce the problem. After setting the "Select Checkbox" and "Choose menu item" sounds to beeps, I cannot hear beeps on doing either of these later, after closing the sound preferences dialog.

gnome-sound-properties contains gnome-sound-properties. Somebody should forward this upstream.
