Write in dictionary

Could you provide some more information please?

 * Is the dictionary you refer to the GNOME Dictionary (found in Applications | Accessories | Dictionary), or some other?
 * Could you run the application in question from the terminal to see if there is any useful output which might explain the delay?
 * Could you find the version of the application you are using by going to Help | About in the app?

Any more information that you think may be relevant could also be useful.

 Yes, is gnome dictionary: aplications--> acessories--> dictionary.

 No, i don't know this command.

Is there any output in the terminal, i.e. is any text inserted after the part where you typed 'gnome-dictionary' in the terminal?

With gnomeutils 2.14.0-0ubuntu4, I cannot reproduce this under AMD64. Using the gnome-dictionary command line tool, there is no output, and I may continue to type in the entry box whilst the lookup is occuring.

Do you still have that issue on dapper?
