Bug Description
Binary package hint: usb-creator
With a live-usb of ubuntu8.10 via included usb-creator
mtab accumulates appendages of:
tmpfs ... ... /lib/modules/
seemingly on each shutdown or system crash (I crash-test...so they run about even in number...I still need to resolve the question of which...but either way, this shouldn't occur.)
I've deleted the extra lines manually...but how to prevent their generation?
TIA.

so after a few deliberate crashes, I've noticed stale info from df giving usage of disks mounted before crashes but not mounted after restart. My guess is that mtab is being read from casper-rw after being generated on boot, overwriting the correct state.
