Bug Description

Binary package hint: casper

I hope to see support for vfat/fat32 for the casper-rw partition (now just->Type could be one of "cpio", "squashfs" or "ext2".)

I'm working in making an Ubuntu usb live persistent system. In this dongle we have also windows free software (like firefox) and we want to share data from casper-rw partition between live ubuntu user and windows softwares (bookmarks->firefox, mail->thunderbird etc.)

I don't think this could work since vfat/fat32 doesn't support permissions, symlinks, and case sensitive filenames, all of which are required.

It's not possible to use vfat as the backend for overlayfs as it's not a posix compatible file system.
For this specifc bug, I'd suggest you just use another partition and mount it as /home/ubuntu/Documents.
